Hi, I’m Cath Worsley-Tomlinson. At a time of ever-increasing awareness of the need to support girls’ education across the world, there has never been a better time to support an organisation like BTCUK which offers scholarship bursaries to girls in Sylhet, Bangladesh to stay on at school and complete their studies.
It is hard to contemplate academically-gifted girls across the world still having to give up their education for economic or other reasons, before they even reach their teenage years. BTCUK is already funding 35 girls and we hope to increase this up to 50 as soon as possible with your help!
I’ve never done a triathlon in my life before, but will be taking the plunge – literally – at the Pru Health World London triathlon on 1st June in Hyde Park. It may be a shorter distance than the Yorkshire Brownlees race, but the ‘super sprint’ distance involves a 500m open swim in the Serpentine, a 15.5km bike rike around Hyde Park ending with a 2.5km run to the finish line. May sound easy, but put all these elements together at once and it becomes a huge challenge!
If enough sponsorship is raised, I am also willing to push myself further with the ‘My Yorkshire’ triathlon in Wakefield on 13 July, so please be generous with support and encouragement!
All support is welcome – it costs £10 per month to sponsor a girl through her education for a year, so small amounts go a long way! One-off or regular donations can be made on the website.
